Why Eye Acupressure?
For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine has recognized that the eye area is one of the most delicate and expressive parts of your face. It is also where fatigue, stress, and lack of sleep first show their signs—puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, and tension. The eyes are also connected to the liver meridian, and eye strain can reflect liver Qi stagnation.
Acupressure around the eyes is a time-honored practice for relieving eye strain, reducing puffiness, and supporting overall eye health. The "Zhuque Three Pecks" (朱雀三啄) is a traditional technique that involves gentle, rhythmic pressing on three key acupoints around the eye to awaken Qi and restore brightness to the eyes.
The beauty of eye acupressure? It's remarkably simple to learn and easy to incorporate into your daily routine. With just a few minutes a day, you can bring the wisdom of this ancient healing art into your modern life.
Our Little Lotus Bead Massage Tool is thoughtfully crafted from natural rosewood with a solid brass bead at the tip, shaped like a tiny lotus pod. The rosewood handle is warm and smooth in your hand, while the brass bead provides gentle, focused pressure for acupoint stimulation. The Zhuque Three Pecks (朱雀三啄) Technique
The "Zhuque Three Pecks" is a traditional Chinese acupressure technique for the eyes. "Zhuque" (朱雀) refers to the Vermilion Bird, one of the four symbols of Chinese constellations, representing the south and the element of fire—bringing warmth, vitality, and awakening energy. "Three Pecks" refers to gently pressing three key acupoints around each eye.
The three acupoints are:
- Jingming (BL1): At the inner corner of the eye
- Yuyao (EX-HN4): Midpoint of the eyebrow
- Tongziliao (GB1): At the outer corner of the eye
Using the brass bead tip of the Little Lotus tool to gently press these points helps awaken the Qi around the eyes, relieve strain, reduce puffiness, and restore brightness to tired eyes.
Unique Properties of Brass for Acupressure
Brass (copper-zinc alloy) has been used in traditional healing for centuries. Here's why the brass bead is especially effective for eye acupressure:
- Precise Stimulation: The smooth, rounded brass bead delivers focused pressure to small acupoints around the delicate eye area.
- Rapid Heat Conduction: Brass conducts heat quickly. As you press, the bead warms up to your skin temperature, creating a soothing warmth that helps relax eye muscles and improve circulation.
- Smooth and Gentle: The polished brass surface is smooth and non-irritating, gentle enough for the delicate eye area.
- Natural Antibacterial Properties: Brass has natural antimicrobial properties, making it hygienic for repeated use on the face.
- Comfortable Weight: The solid brass bead provides just enough weight for effective pressure without requiring forceful effort.
Benefits of Eye Acupressure
- Relieves Eye Strain: Gentle pressure on acupoints helps relax tired eyes after long hours of screen time or reading.
- Reduces Puffiness: Stimulating the acupoints around the eyes helps promote lymphatic drainage, reducing under-eye bags and morning puffiness.
- Brightens the Eyes: Regular acupressure helps improve circulation around the eyes, reducing dark circles and restoring a bright, awake appearance.
- Relieves Tension Headaches: Pressing on Yuyao (mid-brow) and other points can help relieve tension headaches that often start around the eyes.
- Supports Liver Health: In TCM, the eyes are connected to the liver meridian. Eye acupressure can help support liver Qi flow.
- Calms the Mind: The gentle, rhythmic pressing creates a relaxing, meditative self-care ritual.
How to Use (Zhuque Three Pecks Technique)
Prepare: Before each use, gently wipe the brass bead and wood handle with a soft, dry cloth. Apply a small amount of eye cream or facial oil to the eye area for smoother gliding.
Step 1 - Jingming (Inner Corner): Using the brass bead tip, gently press on Jingming (BL1) at the inner corner of the eye. Press with light, steady pressure for 3-5 seconds, then release. This is the first "peck." Repeat 3 times.
Step 2 - Yuyao (Mid-Brow): Move to Yuyao (EX-HN4), the midpoint of the eyebrow. Gently press for 3-5 seconds, then release. This is the second "peck." Repeat 3 times.
Step 3 - Tongziliao (Outer Corner): Move to Tongziliao (GB1) at the outer corner of the eye. Gently press for 3-5 seconds, then release. This is the third "peck." Repeat 3 times.
Repeat the three "pecks" on the other eye.
Additional Uses: The brass bead can also be used to gently press other acupoints around the face, such as Zanzhu (inner brow), Sizhukong (outer brow), and Taiyang (temples).
Post-Massage Care: After your session, gently pat any remaining product into your skin. Drink a glass of warm water to support hydration and metabolism.
Pro Tips: Always use very light pressure around the eyes—never forceful. The brass bead naturally warms up with use—this gentle heat enhances the acupressure effect. For morning puffiness, store the tool in the refrigerator for 5-10 minutes before use for an extra soothing and de-puffing effect. Clean the brass bead after each use with a soft, dry cloth. Combine with deep breathing for enhanced relaxation.

About the Little Lotus Design: The tool is shaped like a tiny lotus pod (莲蓬), with a brass bead at the tip resembling a lotus seed. The lotus is an important symbol in Eastern culture, representing purity, enlightenment, and rebirth. The small, rounded shape fits naturally between your fingers for precise control.
About Brass & Care: The brass bead is made from solid brass with no coating. This allows for optimal heat conduction and gentle stimulation. Over time, brass naturally oxidizes when exposed to air, moisture, or oils—developing a darker patina. This is normal and does not affect function. The patina is a sign of authentic, uncoated brass. After each use, wipe the brass bead with a soft, dry cloth to remove moisture and oil. If oxidation occurs, gently polish with baking soda paste or lemon juice and salt, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Avoid soaking in water or storing in humid environments.
Each piece has its own unique grain, color, and character—no two are exactly alike. This natural variation is a sign of authenticity and craftsmanship, making every tool truly one-of-a-kind.
Care Instructions:
- Wipe with a soft, dry cloth before and after each use.
- Always apply eye cream or oil to skin before use—never use on dry skin.
- Wipe brass bead dry after each use to slow oxidation.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or excessive moisture to prevent wood warping or cracking.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
May this Little Lotus Bead Massage Tool be your gentle companion in nurturing the Qi that flows through your eyes and spirit. As its warm brass bead performs the Zhuque Three Pecks at Jingming, Yuyao, and Tongziliao each day, may it awaken your eyes, relieve strain, and bring the awakening energy of the Vermilion Bird to your self-care ritual. May your eyes be bright, your vision clear, and your spirit light—like a lotus blooming in the morning light.
